via Comic Book Resources

Producer Simon Kinberg just dropped a major hint about "Wolverine 3," Hugh Jackman's last major film as the character.

"The 'Wolverine' movie takes place in the future," he told CinemaBlend.

Rumors that Jackman's last "Wolverine" film will be based on the "Old Man Logan" storyline by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven have circulated since last summer. The storyline saw an aged -- and retired -- Wolverine doing battle with maniacal future versions of Marvel characters in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Kinberg's confirmation of the setting lends credence to the earlier rumors.

Patrick Stewart, who has played Professor X since 2000's "X-Men," announced he would appear in "Wolverine 3" last August. Starring Hugh Jackman, "Wolverine 3" is scheduled for release on March 3, 2017.
